On their first home visit in rural northern Uganda, the Cause 4 Life team met Francis, a 16-year old boy born with a disability whose caretaker is his grandmother. Intern Tommie, who specializes in occupational therapy, talked with the grandmother about communication techniques she can use with little Francis to help him indicate his needs. The team also taught the family how to avoid pressure sores by changing Francis' position throughout the day.
The team shared from Luke 14, explaining the special value that God places on those with disabilities. They encouraged the grandmother by explaining that when she serves little Francis, she is serving God directly.
